9 month old loves!
I love this Tonie . It’s a really great engaging telling of the great book. My 9 month old looks at the Tonie box numerous times throughout the story. The song is very catchy too!

Not one my little one reaches for often and he is a big Gruffalo fan! Not keen on the mouses voice. wish it was longer too! Same price as other tonies but only 17 mins running time
Cute character
Bought this for my 2 year old grandson who is a huge gruffalo fan - he loves it.
Regrettable purchase
Where do I start... I'm left suicidal because my 3 year old accused me of ruining the Gruffalo. It all comes down to the voice acting. It's terrible, I feel bad and so should this company
Too short lacks content.
Terribly short. My boy was actually in tears and kept tapping it trying to find more content. I should have checked the content instore but assumed there would be much more than is on it. The story and one song is so tight!
Annoying voices
Painfully annoying narration voices. Had to get rid of it
Great reading
My daughter loves this Tonie, the story is great and so are the voices. She's not keen on the song.
Could be longer
We really like this tonie. Just wish it was longer
A favourite in our house!
My son got this for Christmas and absolutely loves it, plays it on repeat. He loves the book originally and has only seen the film a handful of times. I think it's completely fair if people do not like how it is narrated, but those who are not happy that it's not like the film are missing the point that it's an audio reading of the book and nothing to do with the film.
Shame about the narrator
Such a shame Imelda Staunton did not read or understand The Gruffalo is a children’s book, I feel she’s confused with her character from Harry Potter. Disappointing. This is the same with the other Tonie Character she narrates.
Short but great reader
My little boy loves this tonie, its a bit short though.
Don’t buy. Narrorator has ruined it.
I don’t understand why you didn’t use the original people from the original film. I absolutely can’t stand the woman who reads both the Gruffalo and the Gruffalos child. She’s ruined it for daughter she won’t listen to it, tells me the mouse in not a girl, and the Gruffalo doesn’t sound like that, the films are amazing so I don’t understand if you have the rights to it, why not use the original voices. I have been put off buying anymore tonies because they are not the same narrator and the songs arnt the same. It really needs updating, as do the frozen ones. Don’t waste your money. I bought the tonne box to reduce screen time, by getting all the films my daughter loves on here, but she just wants the films on, because they are not the same actors. She’s not daft.
Story ruined by the dreadful reading!
The Gruffalo is a classic story my children adore, but unfortunately Imelda Staunton has chosen to read this book as if she's Delores Umbridge reenacting The Tortoise and the Hare under the influence of the Babbling Beverage potion. Her voices range from extremely high pitched and shrill to far lower than her range can comfortably manage which sounds rather painful. The voices are startling, and barely intelligible at times. I feel bad to throw the "annoying" word out there, as this recording is for the children not me so my feelings should be somewhat irrelevant, but my kids look honestly quite lost and confused when we try to listen to this Tonie. We've had it for several years and I can count the times we've listened to it on my two hands. Sadly, not a favourite, what a waste of money and butchery of a lovely story! Big names don't always equate to big talent it would seem, but 100 points for effort to Imelda if nothing else as she really has made an effort. Why not re-record it though, read by anyone who can do it sounding a bit more measured and less over the top?
Horrible narrator
This was my son’s first tonie since he loves Gruffalo. Unfortunately the narration of the story is awful. The narrator makes the Gruffalo sound as if he is dumb. It’s very annoying to listen to. I would suggest hiring a different narrator with more talent.
Love love love
My son received this as his first Tony and he absolutely loves it, he’s obsessed with the books and now the Tony too! Great for little ones with big imaginations.

This Tonie teaches:
Julia Donaldson’s story of a brave mouse, a deep dark wood, and everybody's favourite knobbly-kneed monster is a firm favourite – and with the Toniebox, Gruffalo fans can bring the deep, dark wood to roaring life, right in the middle of their bedroom. Or their living room. Or the car. Wherever they like, really.
All they need to do is to pop this fearsome (but not really) Gruffalo Tonie on top of their Toniebox and soon they’ll be taking a familiar nighttime stroll through the woods. Actress Imelda Staunton reads this Toniebox story, but we reckon there are some words you might know already.
All together: ‘A mouse took a stroll through the deep, dark wood…’
List of titles:
01 - STORY - The Gruffalo
02 - SONG - The Gruffalo
