Medela Spare Part - Personalfit Flex Connector
I bought spare parts to assist with washing and sanitising
Quality of Product
Cannot buy part individually
I was looking to replace the silicone membrane in my Medela Swing Flex electronic breast pump. However, they do not sell this part individually. I had to buy two of the connectors just to get this small part. I feel this is ridiculous as the machine itself was already quite expensive.

I'm only pumping occasionally and they last me quite a while. When purchased I wasn't aware they come in a pack of two and ordered two packs as the website doesn't make it clear but other than that everything was fine. It would've been better if they were selling only the rubber parts as it's a waste of plastic buying the whole connector
Good when sterilised with miltons
This is excellent if not heated, the one time I heated it to sterilised it when a bit bendy. now use miltons only and it's great.
Good replacement but seems to change shape
It's good but only decent when sterilised in miltons and not heat sterilised.
Disappointing
I think the flange is a design flaw of this pump, which is otherwise great. Potential improvements for the future would be; - Make the connector size interchangeable with the hospital grade pumps (which has far better flanges) - Sell the flanges separately from the plastic to reduce a huge amount of waste and expense - Make it clear what degrades them so fast so people can care for them more easily
Wonderful
Great to have as a back up when parts are in the wash

Not for Regular Use
I primarily nurse but pump afterwards so my pump gets used daily. The motor and other pieces of my pump all work fine. I have now had a second set of connectors quit working. After a couple months, they don't snap on fully and I am unable to get suction unless I squeeze it shut the entire time I pump. I had the old pump in style with my first child and exclusively pumped for months and I loved it. I only had to replace the membranes (which is expected). That is why I chose this pump again. The new connectors though are terrible and I would have chosen a different pump if I knew I would have to change connectors every few months. I need my pump to be reliable and going from it working one day to not being able to get suction the next is unacceptable.
Try not to sterile it with steam/high heat
Try not to sterile it with steam/high heat, i suspect high temperature will cause the clip to deform. Possibly people who use UV sterilisation won't see this problem.
Extra parts and works good
I bought extra so i could turn my pump into a double.

Great connector but..
The connector is great and so quick and easy to transport, assemble, dissemble and wash. I can’t honestly recommend it to other mums though because the membrane really should be available to purchase separately. Medela advises to regularly replace the membranes (every 4 weeks for heavy use) and honestly that adds up enormously in plastic waste and cost. The parts are also regularly out of stock so I recommend getting a couple of sets while you can so you’re not stuck waiting for a replacement while your current set loses efficiency (and therefore potentially harming your supply). So while I love the connector and pump, until they offer membranes separately for sale, it would be hard to recommend this brand/style specifically for a pumping mum.
Works but problematic
These are fine but what really bothers me is that they're very wasteful. You can't purchase the membranes separately (in the UK) which need to be replaced monthly to maintain effective milk removal although the hard plastic parts have a much longer life of 3-6 months or until they snap. I've had some snap simply from dropping which isn't ideal especially if you need to pump and don't have spare parts to hand. I want to love them but I can't, I simply need them and can't wait until I don't need them anymore. The detachable flanges is the main positive so they can be used easily with my pumping bra.
Disappointed
Unsure why Medela doesn’t sell the silicon seperate. Unfortunate has half this product goes in the bin for regular pumpers. Wasteful.

I very much dislike the new personal fit connectors. I like to see my milk come out as I tend to get clogged ducts, so I am always watching my milk being expressed to ensure all ducts are working. I just had my 4th baby, I got the new freestyle pump. The new connected are not clear like the olds ones where the flanges meet the connector and I can no longer see my milk expressing! The connectors are not recliner proof. Bring back the old clear connectors for the freestyle please! The pump is good strength and cleaning is easy, but I would not recommend due to the connectors no longer being clear.
Needs regular replacement !!!
I have only been expressing milk for 3 months now and I am on my third set of connectors, so basically a connector a month. Like other reviews here, I have pretty much had the same experience, it’s an expensive and awesome breast pump but it sucks that this connector needs replacement frequently, which makes the pump not worth the price. The connector starts loosing suction as you use it regularly, it gets to a point where you have to manoeuvre around in order for it to work right. It’s frustrating and disappointing. Also makes sense why this is out of stock regularly because other mums are continuously having to buy a replacement connector.
