Medela Hands-Free Collection Cups

I am exclusively pumping with my second child due to a cleft lip and palate. I use these whenever i am out and about but I have also used them with my spectra (with a minor hack using old medela pump tubing, just google it if you are interested). Can have my top down if need to pump in company. Don’t need a special bra to pump. Also doesn’t have a heavy motor on top of your breast. Much cheaper to buy than a cord free wearable and you can use with existing pumps. So much easier to wash with only 3 parts. Doesn’t leak, has a flat base to stand the cups up while you are pouring into bottles or bags. I have 2 sets and they have made my pumping journey infinitely better and easier at the 3 month mark. I would not have lasted this long!

I LOVE this hands free pump. Ignore the reviews where people complain about leaks and not being able to open it. I use these bad boys all day everyday and never had a single leak and I open it no problem.

Once you know how to use it, it’s pretty convenient. I have the free style from my first birth, it was a bit pain to hold, hand-free bra would not work so I had to use haakaa manual pump one side to ease my life. Now I’m with my second one. I switch between the original attachment + haakaa, and this hand free attachment depending on my daily tasks. I wish it could be cheaper given they’re just plastics.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thought these would be a good idea as I thought it would free up my hands to do other things. They are a bit bulky and aren’t cordless so I had trouble picking up my newborn while wearing them. Each cup is made up of 3 pieces so very easy to wash! You will need a toothbrush to wash some of the hard to reach parts. They would sometimes leak in my soft maternity bras! The only way they wouldn’t was if I wore a disposable nursing pad and have the bottom of the cup sitting on top of it. Found it would leak if the connecting cup pieces were laying on absorbent fabric. However these cups did give me a moment to relax and reduce pumping time as I could wear both at the same time. They did excellent at emptying my breasts of breastmilk and the opening at the top of the cups made for easy pouring of breastmilk into bottles or bags.

Been using these for 6 weeks - love using them with my spectra. Much more comfortable and easy to use when holding bub. Just needed to use spectra tubing between pump and y connector.

Most comfortable pump I've ever used and this is my third pregnancy. The cups are lightweight and the suction options are incredible. Pumping should be comfortable, no pain, and these do just that. Easy to clean, easy to use. Out of all the hands free options, these are the easiest to find a bra to wear because they are the most lightweight. The ones with motors are too heavy for any bra.

As a fully expressing Mum, these were incredible. I originally started off with the older version of medela freestyle, where the bottles attached to the pump however this was a game changer. I loved that all I needed was a new cord and this set of cups and it actually worked with my previous model of medela pump (please note this was only the style beforehand, so the actual machine was very similar. Not sure if still the same) It did take my breasts awhile to adjust to the different style of cup, however it all worked out well and used these for 5+ months… wish these were originally available when I first purchased my pump however so glad that the pieces can now be purchased seperately! I am due with #2 very soon, and will definitely be using my medela hands free once again… makes life so much easier! Little tip: poo the machine in your dressing gown pocket for the full “hands free” experience while pumping 😂

These are a fantastic addition to the medela pump, easy to use and empty both sides completely. Highly recommend!

Works well with my freestyle. Comes with small and medium flanges which fit me. Shape of the cups are not overly discreet but seems to fit well and not be too heavy.

If I could give a minus star, I would. Caps leak like crazy, so if you want to pump for 40min to loose everything - please buy them

The power is no where near the same as the bottles and yields far less milk. There has been many times when I was not even able to pump more than a few drops. Whenever I switch back to the medela pumping bottles I have far better results. I wouldn't waste your time or money on these.

They fit nicely into a bra. They work well as a hands free pump but has great suction. I would recommend these for anyone looking for a strong hands free pump

Made for a lot of spilled milk. Not really really easy to close, with lack of sleep you gotta be awake with two eyes open to triple check it’s closed securely or you’re sure to come up with lots of spills and heartaches. I sure closing the cup was not as difficult

Bought the in bra cups to be a bit more mobile and discrete. They do both things well. They are comfortable and easy to clean and assemble. I use them several times a day (predominantly breastfeeding) and am very glad I purchased these. A few things I feel could be improved. You cannot bend over in the cups to pick something up from the ground, all the milk will spill out of the top. It would be nice if the airhole has a valve in it. Allows you to do things around the house/out and about with more ease. The cups are also semi round/half egg shape in design, it is like attaching another boob on your own. A flatter design that works with the contours of the breast would be helpful (wider and more disc shaped). It's hard to see if nipple positioning is good, as the plastic steams up quickly. That worked better with the traditional shape. Finally the flange side is sometimes difficult to remove, I realise it needs to be on tight, but perhaps there are ways to help it release better.
